Dear Parents and Students,

Hope your weekend was restful! Here are a few updates for this week.
-This Friday the Science Projects are due! If you are already finished, you are welcome to bring it in any day this week. We will be doing presentations this Friday in the afternoon. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's project.
-Because Science Projects are due this Friday, there will be no Tic-Tac-Toe Spelling/Vocabulary HW this week. There will still be a Spelling/Vocab test on Friday morning. I will be giving the students the spelling words and vocabulary words this week for them to practice.
-I am asking that all students bring in a "box" to decorate and turn in to a "Valentines Box." Any used Capri Sun box or even shoe box will work. We will be decorating these boxes on Valentines Day morning and then using them later in the day to collect valentines from other students. It is also OK to bring in a box with the student's name on it this week:)

Dear Parents and Students,
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Here are a few updates for the week.
-Reminder that the Science Projects are due next Friday, Feb. 10. Science boards are on sale in the office for $3-$5 depending on what you want. If you have any questions over the next few weeks, please email me so that I can help. I am looking forward to seeing everything the students have been working on!
-For those of you who did not attended the "field trip" informational meeting, please email me if you have any questions. I know the students are really excited after hearing a little of what they will be doing. Our trip is scheduled for April 9-10 and I will be sending home permission slips in a few weeks. If you are not planning on your student attending this trip, please let me know so we can continue to plan for this trip.
-The homework is up on the homework page and I will be sending a copy home tomorrow as well. The students did an amazing job last week on their application homework. This week I am looking for students to use their thinking to complete this assignment. The students will design something that shows their thinking about the word they choose. Students may also use a computer at home to create or design something and print it off. The ENTIRE box or page should be filled in with color. Have fun!
-We will be celebrating valentines day on Feb 14 with a small party. Our room mom, Mrs. Correa is planning it. I will be sending home a class list of names this week for the students to spell all the names correct. The students do not have to get anything for their classmates, but if they choose to, please make sure to get something for everyone in the class. We have 26 students in the class:)

Dear Parents and Students,
-Here are a few things for this week.
-There will be a parent meeting regarding our field trip this Thursday, January 26th, from 1:45-2:45 in the auditorium. A representative from the Ocean Institute will be here to give a brief presentation of what we will be doing and be available for any questions parents may have. Next Thursday is also an extended day so there will not be any electives going on, but all other siblings will be in class until 3:00. Our 4th graders will be in the meeting with us and you will be able to take your student home immediately after the meeting. Just as a reminder, our field trip is planned for April 9-10.
-Tomorrow there will be a paper coming home for anyone who is interested in chaperoning on this trip. If you are interested, please read, fill out, and return it to school on Tuesday.
-The homework is posted on the homework page. This week there will be a new assignment for the students to do. This assignment will be a short summary about how they have applied learning we are doing in class to something in their lives. Here is a google doc link to the assignment. This will be due on Friday.

Dear Parents and Students,
Here are a few updates for the upcoming week:
-Students can now begin working on their Science Projects! I have gone over the student's questions and they look great. Remember, only students wishing to compete at the county level need to include a research paper. Otherwise, just the project and display are required for 4th grade. If you have any questions, please email me so I can help you as soon as possible.

Dear Parents and Students,
-I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Here are a few things for this upcoming week.
-This Thursday the students Science Project Questions are due. Just as a reminder, the question needs to be something that can be tested. The students need to write their name and what their question is on a piece of paper and turn that in by this Thursday, January 12. I have already received many from the students already and am excited to see how they turn out. EVERYTHING you need to know is available on the school website. I HIGHLY recommend either reading or printing the "Science Fair Guide." It has everything you need to know to help your student do a complete project from start to finish. Page 12 has a great example of what a Science Project board should include and look like. Here is the link -"Science Fair Guide". If you have any questions, please email me so I can help you.
-I have included a new link on the Homework page for math practice. The "Khan Academy" link is another great resource for the students to use to increase their mastery of their math facts. Your student will need a Google account to login to the website. The account they have through their Google Docs they use in class will not work for this site. You can create a Google account using any email address. Once logged in, the students click on "practice" and start working on the FIRST set of problems on the left. After completing 10 problems in a row correctly, they can move on to the next set of problems. You can also select the "Coach" link at the top and add me as a coach. I will be able to see all the progress your student is making. As the students make their way through the lessons, they may come to some problems they do not know how to do. When this happens, they can click on "Watch a Video" link on the right. They will watch a short video on how to do the lesson and then try the problems. This resource is a really fantastic way for the students to increase their mastery of not only simple facts, but many of the more difficult concepts we learn in fourth grade and far beyond. I had students show great strides last year who really used this resource weekly, and some even daily. If you have any questions about this, please email me so that I can help you get your student using this as soon as possible.
-This Friday and next Monday there is no school.

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope everyone enjoyed their vacation and time spent with family! As usual, time seemed to fly by for me and my family these past two weeks. I am looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and getting back to work in 4th grade. Here are a few important things for this upcoming week and beyond!
-We will be getting back to normal as far as HW and classwork. The homework is posted on the HW page and will be due as usual on Friday morning as well as our Spelling, Vocabulary, and Math tests.
-The next BIG project for 4th grade begins this week. It is Science project time! In 4th the Science Project is a mandatory assignment. EVERYTHING you need to know is available on my website and the school website. The first assignment due will be the student's Question/Problem that they will be testing for their project. The only requirement is that the students pick a testable question. Ex. "What liquid will rust a nail the quickest?" This question is due next Thursday, January 12 The students should then go through the Scientific Method to solve that problem. We will be reviewing this in class so it will be fresh in their mind. This project DOES NOT have to be super complicated. It also is not required that the students do a research paper with this project in 4th grade. The only exception to this is if your student would like to have the chance to compete in the County Science Fair. The top three projects with research papers will go on to be judged at ILCS, and then 3 will be chosen from 4-8 grade to go on to compete at the next level.

Dear Parents and Students,

Wow! I can't believe this is our last week before Christmas break! There is a lot going on this week, so if I forget to mention something, I will make sure and email everyone as we go along. Here is what you need to know for this week so far:
-There will be no Spelling / Vocabulary HW this week. I know that this is a very busy week for everyone, so there will be no Homework Tic-Tac-Toe to complete. Enjoy this time with friends and family! We will still have a spelling / vocabulary test on Friday on the words that we will go over and work on in class. There will also still be Math HW but may change a little as some of our days this week may have unusual schedules. As usual, please read 20 minutes each night.
-The ILCS Christmas program is this Tuesday night at the Bryant St. campus. 4th-6th grade is performing at 6:30 pm. Please have your student there no later than 6:15 p.m. wearing a solid colored shirt (can be the one they wore in class this Thursday) Our song is very short, but should be a lot of fun!
-This Tuesday is also Grandparents Day at ILCS. The grandparents are invited to watch as all the classes practice for the Christmas performances during the day and then see a little presentation by the school. Grandparents are then invited to visit the classrooms later in the day.
-This Thursday is Extended day. Please remember to pick up your student at 3:00 p.m. in the front of the school. We will be finishing up our month of generosity.
-This Friday we will be having our class Christmas celebration. I will be sending home a letter from our room mom with all the details. Here are a few quick points: 1) If you would like to volunteer to bring something, there will be sign-ups on the classroom door; 2) We will be having a used book exchange, please choose one book your student can wrap and give as a gift to another student in the class. If you are a girl, please write To: Girl, and if you are a boy, please write: To: Boy. This is a great way to share in the spirit of generosity without having to go out and purchase a gift. Students may bring these wrapped books to school any day this week.
-I want to say how grateful I am to be working with such a wonderful group of students and parents this year. It is truly a blessing to get to teach each and every one of your children! Each one of them is so unique and adds so much to our 4th grade class this year. I hope that all of you have an amazing Christmas filled with memories of joy and laughter!!!

Dear Parents and Students,

-Thank you to all the wonderful parents who made this Saturday's Holiday Boutique such a success!! I would like to send out a special thank you to our very own Mrs. Karen Brown for thinking of the idea, sending out flyers, and making it happen!! I would also like to thank our very own Mrs. Heidi Hutcheson and Mrs. Stephanie Myers for doing so much before and on Saturday to make it such a success.
- There is a lot going on these next two weeks and I will try to get as much information to everyone for every event that is taking place.
-First, we will be participating in the annual ILCS Christmas show next Tuesday, December 13. The 4-6 graders are doing their performances starting at 6:30 at the Bryant Street campus. We will be performing the song, "We are Santa's Elves." Please let me know if your child will be unable to attend so I can plan accordingly. As part of the presentation, I am asking that all the students bring a solid color shirt (preferably green, pink, blue, or red, this could even be a shirt turned inside out so it has no graphics on it) to school this Tuesday. We will be working on part of the presentation in class and will need the students to be wearing what they will be wearing on that night. Again, if you do not want your child to participate, please let me know ASAP.
-Over these next two weeks it is really important that the students continue to complete their homework and stay on task even though our schedule gets busy. Then, everyone can enjoy their vacation knowing everything is done and ready to get the new year started.
-The homework is posted on the homework page. If you did not get your Final Draft of your Fictional Narrative turned in on Friday. It must be turned in this week. Also, the "Salt" 1-pager is due this Friday if you have not already completed it.

Dear Parents and Students,

-I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! It's hard to believe there is only three weeks until Christmas break! This is the time to really focus and make sure everything is completed to the best of your ability before we leave for two weeks.
-There are a few things to go over for this week.
-I forgot to print the homework page today so I will give it to the students in class tomorrow (Tuesday). Therefore, the students only need to complete 2 of the tic-tac-toe boxes for this week's homework in spelling and vocabulary (the sheet is up on the homework page) We will be going over the vocabulary words in class tomorrow as well. Also, the student's Fictional Narratives we have been working on in class, are due this Friday. We will spend tomorrow working on them in class and then whatever is not finished must be taken home to complete. This is the Final Draft, parents are welcome to go over and edit the papers if you wish. The rest of the homework is posted on the homework page.
-The students did an amazing job on their Mammal Projects the week before vacation! There is not a project going on at home for the month of December. One of the next big projects coming up is the Science Project. All the information is already posted on the Social Science / Science page on the website. Also, keep in mind that this is a great time of year to be working on the Service project which is not due until May. 4th graders are required to do 8 hours of community service. Remember to take pictures so the students can make a presentation.
-Everyone can also be thinking about the 4th Grade CA History Project which is also not due until the end of the year. All the information for this project is also on the same page as the Science project. If you go on any vacations that include a CA landmark or point of interest, it might be something your student can do a report/project on. I will be giving all the information about this project after Christmas break.
-I will be sending out an email from the room mom, this letter is also available to see on the Team Mom page of the class website.
-This Saturday we are having a fundraiser to raise money for our field trip this year. Come out and shop at the Holiday Boutique from 8:00-1:00 in the school parking lot. More information will be coming soon.

Dear Parents and Students,
-I can't believe there is only one week until Thanksgiving! Here is a little of what is happening this week.
-The only homework this week is Math and Reading. The main thing the students should be working on is their Mammal Project which is due on Thursday. If you have already completed this project, congratulations! You are not a procrastinator and you have less homework this week! The students will be presenting these all day on Thursday.
-The students need to make sure they have a book to read in class this week as we will be using independent reading books during reading this week. This is a great time to start working on that AR reading for the second trimester. I will be giving the students their new goals this week. Great job to everyone who made it during the first trimester.

Dear Parents and Students,

-I hope everyone had a great weekend. Here are a few things for this upcoming week.

-I will be sending home parent conference slips this Tuesday and I will be posting the schedule on the class website as well. Please return the slips on Wednesday so I know if you are able to make it or need to change it to another day. I am looking forward to meeting with all of you to discuss this first trimester.

-This is the LAST week for all the students to reach their AR goal. Students may take tests in class. Those who do not reach their goal will have a reading log to complete each night during the second trimester. You can login to the AR home connect to see how your student is doing and what tests they have taken so far. The username and password are the same as their AR username and password.

-I have attached a link to a special letter from our room mom. Please read it over and respond to her if you have any ideas or might be able to help. I will also be emailing it as well.

-There is no school this Friday! We will be turning in all homework and taking the spelling and vocabulary test on Thursday. Students only need to complete two of the homework boxes this week. They may complete three of the boxes if they wish to.

Dear Parents and Students,

-I hope everyone had a great weekend. Here are a few of the things going on in 4th grade this week.
-Our wonderful room mom had me send out an email about this week's harvest party. If you did not get the email or need the info, you can click on this link to get everything you need- Harvest Party
-We will begin NWEA testing this week for the first trimester. Our testing will be on Thursday, Friday, and next Monday. Homework will be much lighter this week than a regular week. The spelling tic-tac-toe does not need to be completed and turned in on Friday. I have uploaded the paper however, because we will still be having a spelling and vocabulary test on Friday morning. Students will get a copy of this week's words and vocabulary in class on Tuesday. Students are welcome to complete the HW sheet if they want to. Also, there will only be math homework on Monday and Tuesday night. I will be going over the results of these tests with each parent at parent conferences in November.
-Just in case you did not receive the school email, Spirit Week has been postponed until next week. Next Monday will be sports day! Please no cleats, helmets, or special equipment.

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Here are few updates for the upcoming week.
-Make sure that your student is keeping up with their nightly reading and then taking the AR test at school. November 10 is the end of the trimester and the last day for students to reach their goal. Parents can login to the AR Home Connect using your students username and password. This will show you what tests they have taken and how far along they are toward their goal. Most students username is their first initial and then the first four letters of their last name. The password for everyone is abc. Students who do not reach their goal will have a reading log as part of their nightly homework next trimester. Congratulations to those students who have already reached the touchdown in class!
-Please remember to use the XtraMath site 3 times per week. Many students are moving past addition and on to subtraction. Great job!
-This Wednesday is shopping night at Fresh & Easy from 4-8 p.m. Come out and support ILCS by going shopping:)
-The Mammal Project assignment is now posted on the Social Science/ Science page on the website. I will be going over this project with the students in class on Monday. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Parents and Students,

-Thank you to everyone who helped out with our fantastic booth at the Fall Festival. A special thank you to Mrs. Correa for organizing the booth and having the students help decorate it, it looked amazing!!
-This week will be business as usual in 4th grade. The only new news is that the students are learning how to use Google Docs. We are in the beginning phase of learning all there is to using a word processing program that allows peer editing and sharing. The students are more than welcome to use Google Docs at home to type any homework they (or you) feel they are capable of completing. We will continue to learn how to use this resource as the year progresses. It is my goal that each 4th grader will have mastered this resource as they move into 5th grade. The students DO NOT have an email address linked to their Google Doc account (even though it seems like they do). The account I have given them is through ILCS and cannot receive emails. Students will learn or have already figured out how to share their writing with others who have a Google Doc account. I encourage the parents to have a Google Doc account so the students can share what they are working on with you:)
-There are a few new pictures on the class photos page, I will be uploading some more very soon!
-Spanish and Library is tomorrow.

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope everyone is enjoying their three day weekend! Here are a few updates for this upcoming week.
-Math groups have begun and are off to a great start. The students are getting used to how they can move up and down and what the keys to success are. All the criteria are posted on the "math groups" page so you can understand the process.
-All the homework is up on the homework page. Remember to login to XtraMath three times a week to practice those facts. Three students have passed the addition and are doing subtraction and multiplication. Many are VERY close. Great work!! Also, remember to get those 20 min. of reading in every night and then take the AR test on all books finished. Any student who does not reach their reading goal will have a reading log added to their individual nightly homework during the next trimester. The first trimester ends for AR on November 10.
-I will be sending home a packet of graded work this week, I email everyone to let them know when that is.
-Here is a letter from our fantastic room mom!
-One week to go - our Fall Festival is this Friday! Thanks to all of those of you who have volunteered!!! I still need more help with - our booth, set-up, and clean-up!!! If you have not brought your items yet pleases do as soon as possible! (roll of toiletpaper, tootsie pops, and little items for prizes!) Excellent job on the Box Tops, keep it up!! Also, don't forget about Fresh and Easy receipts! Have an awesome week and thanks for your help and cooperation!!!

Dear Parents and Students,

-The students did a great job on their CA Mapping projects as well on their in-class Native Californians projects last week. We will be finishing up the History unit on Monday and moving in to Science for the next several weeks!
-Almost every student has logged in to XtraMath and started doing for homework the required 3 times a week. So far, nobody has passed the addition section, but many are very close!! Keep working hard and only doing the assignment once each day. Again, if you have a difficult time doing the assignment at home, please let me know so the students can get it in during class time.
-Reading groups were a tremendous success this past Friday! Thank you to all my parent volunteers who came in and read to the students. This is the biggest group of reading volunteers I have ever had at ILCS! Way to go 4th grade!!! The students were very excited and are looking forward to reading every Friday!
-If you did not get the Room Parent letter that went home last week, all the information is now up on the Team Mom page of the class website. If you did not send in the paper, or have any questions, Mrs. Correa's email is also on that page. I know that she will need extra support for the upcoming Fall Festival.
-We will be starting Math groups sometime next week. There is a new page outlining how they work and what group your student might be in on any given day. I'm sure you will get the lowdown next week when it all starts. If you have any questions, please email me or stop by. I have had tremendous success with this system the past two years and am excited to watch this group of mathematicians excel as well!

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope everyone is having a great, cooler weekend! Here are a few updates for this upcoming week.
-Most of you have already logged in to XtraMath and begun doing the required 3 sessions per week. Remember to keep working until the green button at the bottom of the page says done. Each session is different in length, so keep working and do your best. I have seen some great progress with everyone who is using it properly. If you have not logged in yet, or maybe lost the paperwork, please email me so that I can get that to you and get your student working this week. If you have a difficult time getting to a computer during the week, please let me know so I can get your student on the computer in class during Math time.
-This week we will begin our reading groups on Friday morning. I will be emailing all my reading volunteers tomorrow to confirm that you are available on Friday mornings from 8:20-9:00. If you did not put your name down to help with reading groups and but are interested in coming in to read, please email me.
-The students California Mapping project is due this Friday. Here is the link to the outline we created in class (OUTLINE). If you have trouble viewing it, your student should have a copy they wrote in their History/Science notebook. All items should be stapled to the back of the assignment sheet, the summary does not need to be placed in a binder or cover.

Dear Parents and Students,

Hope everyone is enjoying their 3 day weekend! Here are a few updates for this upcoming week.
-On Friday I sent home each student's AR reading level and AR goal for this trimester. This goal is based on your child's reading level and them reading each day for 20 minutes over the next ten weeks. The first trimester the goal is VERY achievable. Students may take AR tests in the class when they finish a book, I have a computer in the classroom designated for this purpose. At the end of the trimester, each student who reached or exceeded their goal will be rewarded with a small AR celebration (usually a root-beer float party, etc). Students who do not meet their reading goal will be assigned a nightly reading log as part of their nightly homework for the entire second trimester.
-Many of you have already signed in to the Xtra Math website and begun working! GREAT JOB! If you have not done so yet, please have your student sign in with the number I sent home and have them do the first practice. I am asking that each student use Xtra Math at least 3 times during the week as part of Math homework. Even though they are very quick, please do only one assignment per day. The program is designed to improve the students math skills in small chunks each time, and doing more than one session will not be beneficial. I had one student tell me that they could tell they were already faster on this Friday's fast fact portion of the test! Great Work!
-Last Thursday I sent out my first class email as a test. If you received this email, you do not need to respond to it. If you did not receive this email, PLEASE email me at jheadilcs@gmail.com telling me so I can add you to the class email list

Xtra Math

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow a paper will be coming home about a new program we will be using in Math this year. It is a Math website called xtra math. Please read over the paper and go to the site. Click on the "Have a school flyer?" sticky note on the right of the page. You will be asked to enter your email address and the enrollment code on the paper I sent home. This code will allow your student to re-enter the site each time. I have a list of these numbers if yours is ever misplaced. This also allows both you and me to track their progress throughout year. Each student will be shown how to take the first placement test. It should only take 5-10 minutes to complete and will only take about that much time each time the students use this resource. Next week I will add this to the weekly HW asking that each student use the site 3-4 times during the week. This will be a fantastic resource for the students to QUICKLY grow in their math facts. Dear Parents and Students,

We are off to a great start in 4th grade this year! Here are a few things for this upcoming week.
-We will have our first week of spelling and vocabulary homework. The homework sheet is already on the homework page and will also be handed out to the students on Monday. Please email me if you have any questions on how to complete and turn in the homework. Along with the weekly spelling homework, the students have their first history project assigned to them on Monday. Everything they need to complete this can be found in the history book, classroom, or internet. See the History/Science page for more information on how to complete this project. It is designed to be completed by the students with very little help from the parents. Please allow them to complete it as best they can.
-I am still compiling all the emails and will be sending out an email as soon as I have them all. If you were not able to make it to Back-to-School night or haven't brought back the student information card, please email me or send in that paper as soon as possible.
-For those of you that signed up to read on Friday mornings, I am still waiting for all the Megan's Law approvals to come in from the office. I will contact you as soon as I get that approval. I am hoping for this Friday, but it may take one extra week.
-Students may begin taking AR tests in the classroom. We have completed the STAR Reading test and I will be giving the students their reading levels and goals for this trimester this week.
-Please remember to stress Responsibility this month at home as we continue to discuss this leadership theme in class.

Dear Parents and Students,

-Wow! We made it through the first two days and Back to School night! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and get to know all the new students to ILCS! I am really excited about this year and expect great things from each and every one of my students!
-If you did not already return the papers sent home from the school, please return those ASAP. Also, if you filled out the small papers I had available at Back to School night and did not place them in the black container, please send those back to school with your student on Monday as well. I would like to start putting together the class email list and volunteer lists very soon. If you were unable to make it on Friday night, I will send home these papers with your student on Monday.
-This week we will start to get into the rhythm of how we will do things this year. There will be math homework if your student does not finish it in class, and I will also send home this weeks spelling homework as well. This week the spelling homework will be OPTIONAL, but we WILL have our first spelling and vocabulary test on Friday. I did want to send it home so everyone can get an idea of what it looks like and how each family needs to plan for their week. Students should also begin reading 20 minutes each night. All the homework is posted on the homework page of the website.

-Just a few announcements to help make the first day a little easier.
-Students may drop off their backpacks along the wall next to the room anytime before 7:55 and then go out to the playground and play. A bell will ring at 7:55 and the students will come and line up outside the room. I will be in my room by 7:30 for any parents who may want to take pictures of the first day.
-The school will be serving pizza lunch at 12:00. Students should still bring a snack to eat during our regular scheduled snack time, which is 10:05 this year.

Dear New Parents and Students,

-I just wanted to say a quick welcome to all my new students and parents for this upcoming year. I am very excited to see many of you again as well as meet many of you for the first time. We are going to have an amazing year together.
-I know that a school email went out with a map of the new campus. Our class is really easy to find (Room 10) as we are at the very front of the school. I will be updating with more information about where the students can line up that first day of class. I will be happy to take pictures before class starts as well.
-This website and email are the two ways that I will communicate with all of you this year. If you would like to get emails anytime the website is updated, I recommend filling out the box to the right of the blog. Feel free to email me any questions you may have using the email to the right as well.
-If any parents are interested in helping out in the classroom, I am in need of 6-7 parent volunteers who are available and interested in coming in every Friday from 8:20-9:00 for reading groups. These parents will read with a group of 4-5 students in a reading group. This has been a tremendous success over the past 3 years and I look forward to doing it again. I will be talking more about this on Back-to-School Night, but wanted to let everyone know in advance.

Dear Parents and Students,

I can't believe this is the last post of the year. It seems like only yesterday we were all getting to know each other and now it is time to say goodbye. I have been so blessed this year with such fantastic parents and truly fabulous students. I feel like I could keep on going with this group of students and will miss each one of them. I know that they area all ready to move on to 5th grade and are going to do some amazing things next year and far beyond. I have been lucky to be a small part of their journey as they continue to grow into tomorrow's leaders.

Here are a few of the things going on this last week:
Monday: Tomorrow we will be finishing up some work in class. It will be as close to a normal day as we can have.
Tuesday: Tuesday students will be cleaning out their bins and taking home all supplies that belong to them. Please make sure they bring a backpack or bag to school so they can bring everything home. Please check around your house for any text books or books from the class library and bring them to class. Tuesday will also a class dress-up day. The class earned this by beating their scores collectively on this trimester's NWEA test in Math. Students may choose from the following: Hollywood or Sports.
Wednesday: This will be our last day in the classroom. At 8:30 we will have the final school assembly and awards. At 9:30 we will be watching the Bryant St. talent show. For the remainder of the day we will be having a game day. Students can bring in any game to play in the classroom. Scrabble, battleship, etc.
Thursday: Thursday we will be meeting as a school at the new Yucaipa Elementary Campus we will be at next year. Students should arrive at the regular school time and will be dismissed at regular dismissal time as well. If any parents are interested in helping work the class station please contact me or Mrs. O'Connor. Lunch will be provided by the school.

Dear Parents and Students,

   Thank you so much for all the wonderful gifts last week! I have an amazing class this year and have enjoyed every minute with your students this year. I can't believe it's winding to an end so fast!! I also want to say an extra thank you to Mrs O'Connor for organizing our booth at the spring festival and to all the parents who came out and worked our booth. Our school is great because we have the best parents of any school in the world! Thank you for making ILCS such an amazing place to teach!

   This week is our last full week of school together. There is no spelling or vocabulary homework this week, but we will be having a test on Friday. There will be Math HW on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and we will be finishing the book next week!!! We are also NWEA testing this week and next. We took the Reading test today and will be taking the Math test on Friday. Next Thursday we will take the Language Usage.
   If you have not sent in your student's permission slip for the CA Adventure trip, please get that in by Wednesday at the latest. If you have any last minute questions, feel free to email or stop by. Everyone is very excited and looking forward to next Tuesday!

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope all the wonderful 4th grade moms had a great Mother's Day!! We are blessed to have the most wonderful group of moms here at ILCS!!

The students did an AMAZING job last week during state testing. I was very impressed with how hard they all worked and the level of focus each one of them showed on all four days of testing! Great work 4th graders!!

Over the next two weeks there will be no spelling or vocabulary homework. This gives everyone two full weeks to start or finish their CA History project which is due on Friday, May 20. The information on the project is located beneath this post and on the History/Science Page. There will still be nightly math homework for all the problems not completed in class each day. I am looking forward to seeing some amazing projects next week.

I hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday and three-day weekend. I can't believe this is the last week of April! Here some of the things happening in 4th grade right now.

New Pictures are posted on the photos page of our trip to Mission San Luis Rey

Next week is State Testing! Monday through Thursday of next week we will be testing in the morning. It will be important that the students come to school on those days rested and ready to show everything that they know=) (which is a lot!!) We will be testing each morning from about 8:30-10:15 or so. This week we will be reviewing some concepts and looking at how the questions are asked. Because of this, some of the class-work and home-work may be adjusted each day depending on the time we spend on any particular concept.

This Friday is extended day. Students should be picked up at 3:30 instead of 1:10.

As many of you know, we are planning a field trip to CA Adventure at the end of this year. This will be a great experience learning about the four CA regions and then having a little fun to celebrate a great year as 4th graders. The date has just been set for Tuesday, May 31. Tickets for each student are $23 right now, but we are working at lowering that price even more through fundraising at school. Parents are welcome to come along, but will need to purchase tickets at regular price $53 (unless you have a season pass). Only 2 chaperones will be actually allowed in the 2 hour beginning portion and then we will let students go with chaperones into the park. We need at least 1 parent per 4 students. Many of you have already expressed interest in coming along. If you have not, and would like to go, please let me know ASAP so I can get you all the information you may need in the coming month.

There is a great website available for ALL students to use that we are highly recommending this year. This website allows students to work Math problems and advance as they go along. If a student advances to a group of problems that are too difficult, there is an accompanying video helping to explain. As they advance through the program, their level is tracked and relayed to me. Parents, feel free to look around the website and see all the amazing videos available.

If you are interested in getting going on this website, here is everything you need to do.
Skip step one if you have a google account for your child.

1) create a Google Account (this can be done by creating a new gmail account for your student, or using a current email and attaching it to a Google account) If you create a new gmail account, please use the student name as part of the name so I can identify them. https://www.google.com/accounts/Login

2) Go to the Khan Academy http://www.khanacademy.org/ and login. Before beginning, please go to the "COACH" tab at the top of the page. Once there, choose to add a coach.

Permission slips will be going home this week. We will be asking for a small donation to help with the cost of the trip. Parents are welcome to attend this trip! There will be a limited amount of room on the bus (around 5 seats) but, you may drive down with us as well. The cost for each parent to attend is $5. Please write on the permission slip if you are planning on coming, or send me an email. Also, let me know if you prefer to ride on the bus or would like to drive your own vehicle. Students and parents will need to pack a sack lunch and bring a small snack for this trip. We will be eating lunch at the Mission and then coming home.

-Wow! I can't believe it is already March and spring break is next week. How time flies when you are having fun and working hard in 4th grade. The students really did well over the past few weeks with all their testing and I am really excited to share the results of many of those assessments during parent conferences this week and the week after break.
-This week will be a very normal week for us in 4th grade. The third trimester is off to a start and we want to get it started with effort and hard work even though we are a week away from break.

Dear Parents and Students,

-The Science Projects this past week were amazing! Everyone did a great job on their projects and on their presentations. Anyone who can keep their projects at home in good condition is welcome and encouraged to bring them back to school in May for our school's Open House for everyone to see!
-This week will be a little more normal than the last few weeks, however we have a special test this Tuesday. On Tuesday we will be taking the State Writing Test that only 4th and 7th graders take. We will start the test first thing in the morning and will be writing for the entire morning. Please have your student to school on time and ready to test. It will be important that all the students are ready to stay in the classroom writing for the entire time we are testing. It may be a good day for students to bring a water bottle to class if they do not normally. I am looking forward to seeing our amazing 4th graders show how well they can write this year.
-These next two weeks we will be doing the independent reading program we started a few weeks ago. Students MUST HAVE a book in class that they can read and respond to. This book needs to be an AR book that they have not finished yet (currently reading). The reading one-pager will be due next Friday.
-Parent conference slips will go home this Tuesday. Conferences will be next week and the week after spring break.

Mrs. Nault will be coming in with her collection of "Gold Rush" artifacts. -Monday night is the school's monthly board meeting. This Monday they will be discussing some of the possible changes in location that may occur next year. If you are interested in the latest information, I would recommend attending this meeting=)

-If you would like to participate in exchanging valentines, we will be celebrating Valentines Day next Friday because we will not be in school for the actual Valentines Day. There are a few things to go over for this week and the coming month.

The students History homework is not due until next Friday, January 28. This week is just regular math, spelling, and vocabulary.

Yesterday we discussed in class the upcoming Science Projects the students will be completing over the next month. Everything you need to know is on the school website and I have moved this link to the top of the links on my website. Here is the information we went over in class.

Today I handed out a History assignment that is due on Friday, January 28. It is a lot like the project the students did at the beginning of the year. They are to complete 3 of the assignments including the box in the middle. The assignment is also posted on the Social Sciences / Science page at the bottom.

Last week we had NO TARDIES!!!! Great work to all the students and parents getting everyone to school on time. Let's keep it up for the entire month and win that prize!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas Break filled with fun and relaxation:) It is unbelievable that it is already January!!! There are just a few things for this week.

Homework is back to regular schedule. Check the homework page for this weeks assignments. I will be sending home a History tic-tac-toe sheet this week for Unit 3. This Friday is filler-up-Friday at ILCS.

This months leadership theme is punctuality. There is a school-wide competition to see which class can be the most punctual. This means NO tardies this month!! The winning class receives $500 in class supplies!! I know we can win this one. We are always on time in 4th grade:) Make sure and get everyone to school on time so we can be in the running for 1st place.

Dear Parents and Students,

The performance on Friday night was a lot of fun. Everyone did an amazing job and was very "cheesy!"

This week we have some big things happening:

1) The mammal projects are due this THURSDAY. We will begin presentations in the morning and try to get through all of them by the end of the day. We may have to do a couple on Friday to finish up. I have already had a few students turn them in and they look wonderful. Remember that the presentation only needs to be 3-5 min in length. All the requirements are on the History/Science page if you have any questions. Students may add any information they feel may be necessary or interesting:)

2) This Friday we will be having our Christmas party. We will be having a small gift exchange between the students in class, during the party. Example of how the gift exchange works. Boys will by a gift for a boy (not any particular boy in the class) The gift should be wrapped and then placed in a brown paper bag marked BOY. Girls do the same but mark it GIRL. On Friday, we will play a short game and the students will open a gift from another student.
-Reminder: the gift should be $5 or less. We have discussed this in detail in the class. Students know that this is just a fun exchange and not meant to be a "big" gift.
-Mrs. O'Connor will be sending a letter or email home this week about the party as well. We will be asking for a small donation to help with any cost for the party. More information will be coming soon

3) This Wednesday is the PTO "Santa Store." Students may buy gifts for siblings, parents, and friends at the Santa Store. This will be open from 1-7 p.m. and will be located in Mr. Osborn's room. There will be goodies to eat and drink next door to the Santa Store:)

4) There will be no homework this week other than Math on Monday-Wednesday nights. We will have a spelling and vocabulary test on Friday, so students still need to study and practice the words, but there will be no "tic-tac-toe" sheet to turn in. I hope this gives a few extra moments to finish up those Mammal projects for those not done. For those who have already finished, Great work, enjoy the week with no HW!

5) There is a Spanish test this Wednesday. Students should know what is required on the test.

6) I'm sure I am missing something and will have to email everyone this week about it:)

Dear Parents and Students,

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Here are few things to know for this week.

Tomorrow night is the ILCS drama show. The presentation of A Christmas Carol will take place in the sanctuary. The show starts at 6:00 p.m.

This Friday night is the the ILCS winter performance. This performance will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the ILMS campus in the performing arts building. Hope to see everyone there. The boys participating should wear "rock-n-roll" attire (jeans and t-shirts). The girls can wear "winter" attire (sweater, gloves, scarves, etc.) It should be a lot of fun!!

This Friday is also the extended day at ILCS. The first trimester awards will also be handed out at the assembly. Remember that students should be picked up at 3:30 on Friday.

On Friday, December 17th, we will be having a Christmas celebration in 4th grade. As part of this celebration we will be having a gift exchange between the students. Let me explain how this works. All the boys who wish to participate should bring a small gift for another boy wrapped and then placed in a brown paper bag marked "boy." Any girl wishing to participate should bring a small gift for another girl wrapped and placed in a brown paper bag marked "girl." Please make the gifts $5.00 or less. It is not meant to be a big present, but just a fun exchange of gifts before we leave for Christmas break. The students will not give their gift to any particular person in the class, but will get the gift they are standing next to as we play a short musical game. The gifts can be brought in on Thursday or Friday of NEXT week. Please do not bring them in any earlier as we have a very limited amount of storage space during the week. I will go over this in more detail with the students in class:)

Dear Parents and Students,

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Time to get back to business for the next three weeks:) There a few things to go over for the next few weeks.

This week will be a very regular week in 4th grade. Homework will be normal and due on Friday. The homework sheet went home today.

The Mammal Project is due on THURSDAY, December 16. I have attached this paper to the bottom of this post and will also put it on the History and Science page. Please email me if you have any questions. All the students have chosen their animal and have been cleared to begin work. I can't wait to see what they all look like!

Next Friday night is the ILCS Christmas show. I believe it is going to be held at the ILMS campus in the multi-purpose room. We are performing a fun and quick song. We will be practicing this week and next. Some of the students may come home and talk about bringing guitars and drums to class to practice and then to the performance. We are doing a performance that requires fake instruments to be played. If you have a "rock band" guitar or similar guitar and do not mind us using it for our performance, I will let everyone know when to bring them to school for practice. It will not be until next week. More information will come about this show.

We seem to be running out of pencils in 4th grade:) If you have any extra clicker pencils or would like to donate some more to the class, we are in need of them at this point in the year. The disposable ones work great.

Dear Parents and Students,

-I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving! There is a lot going on this week at ILCS, here is some of it that you need to know:)

-Parent conferences are going on this week. If you cannot make your time, please email me so we can work out a better day and time. More than likely, it will be after the break. I am looking forward to meeting with all of you to discuss how your students are doing!

-4th grade is going on a field trip this Thursday from 8:30-12:00. Permission slips went home last Wednesday. Please return those by Wednesday of this week at the latest. Parents are welcome to come along. We are going to Crafton Hills College for a Native American exhibition. It should be a lot of fun! Let me know if you are interested in coming along!

-We will be having a Thanksgiving celebration this Friday at 12:00. There is a sign up sheet next to the classroom door for parents to sign up to bring items. Please stop by and sign up to bring something delicious! Parents are also welcome to come by and help out with as well! The flyer from Mrs. O'Connor is at the bottom of the page:)

-Friday night is the ILCS PTO Dinner with Dragons. Hope everyone can make it to this event. My Brother-in-law, who worked on the movie, will be coming by to talk about the movie. Should be a lot of fun!

Dear Parents and Students,

Wow, I can't believe the first trimester has come to an end! Time goes by so fast when you are having fun in 4th grade! There are just a few things to go over for this week.

There is no school this Thursday or Friday because of the Veteran's Day holiday.

Parent conference notes will go home tomorrow. Please sign and return these on Wednesday. I know that the times will not work for everyone, please write what days might work better for you. I will be available to meet the week after Thanksgiving as well. I have attached my schedule that I have right now. If there is an available time that you see, please send me an email to let me know of the change. I will try and update this form with every change that is made. Homework this week is due on Wednesday and we will have our regular spelling and vocabulary test on Wednesday as well. The students have 12 vocabulary words to study this week that they created from their reading group books. They are challenging!!! Make sure to go over these words because of the short week.

Dear Parents and Students,

Hope everyone is having a relaxing and safe Sunday! Just a few updates for this week.

This week will be a typical week in 4th grade. Homework is due Friday and we will have the usual tests on Friday as well. Students have been doing a great job on doing there daily Math assignments and making sure they are getting the problems correct! Keep it up. Also, make sure to really push that reading this week. We are nearing the end of the trimester and those AR goals should be met by November 8th. That is one week away!!

The ILCS "Fresh and Easy" fundraiser is this Wednesday night. Come and shop at the Yucaipa Blvd. Fresh and Easy and ILCS will receive 5% of all sales between the hours of 4-8 p.m. I will let you know what time I will be working:)

Parent-teacher conferences are coming up soon. Expect a paper with you date and time coming home later this week or early next week. I am looking forward to meeting with everyone. Also, remember that there is no school next Thursday and Friday because of the Veteran's Day holiday.

Dear Parents and Students,

-Hope everyone had a great week and is looking forward to a fantastic weekend! I wanted to update the website a little early because of the funny schedule for next week.
-There will be no Homework next week except to read 20-30 minutes each night. This is because we are NWEA testing on Monday and Tuesday. This should give everyone some time to really focus on their reading and trying to reach their AR goal. As I told the students, any student who does not reach their personal AR goal will have a reading log added to their homework during the next trimester to help monitor their reading. All students who reach or exceed their goal will continue on as usual, reading and taking AR tests to show that they are doing the nightly readings.
-Please make sure that everyone has a book to read at school this week as well. We will spend time in class reading independent reading books rather than Open Court. For Math, we will be doing in-class investigations rather than lessons as well. There will be a small assessment on Friday that will be 100% review of concepts we have gone over so far.
-Please make sure that the students have a good breakfast on Monday as we will be taking TWO tests. The students have never taken two in one day before. It is important that they are well rested and ready to do their best.
-Last week I forgot to post the information about the Governor's Challenge that we are involved in at ILCS. Each week I will ask students if they have been active for 30 minutes at least 3 days during the week. The more participation we have a school, the better our chances doing well. Get out there and get active!

Dear Parents and Students,
-Thank you to all the parents who came out on Friday night and made the Fall Festival such a great evening. A special thank you to to Mrs. O'Connor for making the 4th grade football booth so fantastic!! I hope everyone had as a great time as I did.
-A few things for this week:
-There is a PTO meeting on Tuesday morning at Bryant Street. It starts at 8:30 in the morning. This Thursday PTO will be handing out the fundraiser items. Look for more information from the PTO about this soon. Check the PTO link or become friends with them on Facebook for all the up-to-date information.
-There was a mistake on spelling list 2. The new list is on the post right below this one. It has also been changed on the homework sheet on the homework page. Parents, please make sure to check your students homework on Friday morning and sign the bottom of the homework sheet.
-I am encouraging the students to bring home their math classwork and have someone look it over to make sure it is correct. If you have any questions, please email me and I will try and answer it that night. I don't always check my email at night or I might check it early in the evening. You can also have the student circle the problem and let me know so I can go over it with them the following day.
-As the trimester starts to come to an end, make sure that everyone is reading 20 minutes per night. I would like to see everyone make it the touchdown on the Accelerated Reader field. The goal should be attainable by reading 20 minutes per day.

Dear Parents and Students,
   -Wow, I can't believe it is already October! It seems like we just started a week ago. Here are some of the things happening in 4th grade and at ILCS this week.
   -This Friday is the ILCS Fall Festival at Bryant Street. Many of you have already signed up to help work in our booth. I think there are only a few spots available to work. Please sign you name on the sign up sheet located outside the classroom door if you have not already done so. Thank you to everyone who has already done so. This looks like it is going to be the biggest Fall Festival we have ever had at ILCS! I look forward to seeing everyone there!
   -This Thursday we will be having a day-long "Native American" project happening at school. Michael Nault's mother has volunteered to come in and show us many artifacts that are over 600 years old! There will probably be no Math on Thursday as a result of what we will be doing in class.
   -This week will be the beginning of Math groups. We have discussed in detail the criteria for each group and what it takes to move through the groups. The groups are designed to challenge each student where they are in a particular week. They are extremely "fluid" and students can expect to move back and forth through the groups throughout the year. I had an extremely positive experience with this in class last year and expect the same with this amazing class! As a result, some of the students may come home with different Math assignments than what is posted on the class homework page. The homework page tells where we will be as a class. This will be the pace at which a majority of the students in the class will be working at. It may take about a week until the students have a complete grasp of how the program will look and sound like. If you have any questions, please email me or stop by after school.

   -This Friday we will be having our first extended day and pizza lunch. Remember to pick up the students at 3:30 on Friday.
   -This week we will be doing something a little different for spelling. On Monday we will be taking a pre-test of all the words listed under "list 1." These are the regular spelling words for the week. If any student receives a 100% on the pre-test, they will then move on the the challenge list or "list 2" on the homework sheet. There are 25 words on this list and they are a bit more challenging. Students who score a 100% on Monday should also use this list to do all of their homework. On Friday, students on list 1 will take a test and students on list 2 will take a test.

Dear Parents and Students,
   There are just a few things to go over for this week.
   -On Friday we will be having our student council elections at ILCS. Any 4th grader who is interested in participating should have gone to the meeting on Friday in Mrs. Steinerland's room. These are students who want to run for a position other than Class Rep. Any student interested in running for class representative for our class needs to let me know this week. Anyone interested should be ready to attend student council meetings every Thursday during electives time. Students will be allowed to put up 1 poster in the room and give a speech on Friday, if they wish to do so. but they do not have to. We will have a class vote on Friday. Each class will select two representatives per trimester.
   -On Wednesday the students "Map" projects are due. Students may turn them in early if they are finished.
   -Friday is also the day students should have the Preamble to the Constitution memorized if they wish to earn a free lunch. They can sing or recite it to me, either way, it counts!
   -A note from the PTO:
    Come join us for a night the whole family can be part of! Dinner (info available MONDAY) will be served from 5:00 - 5:45,   KICKIN' starts at 6:00. We are putting   together "Family Teams" so RSVP, ASAP! If you don't want to "Kick It" on a team, bring your Pom Pom's and cheer on your ILCS friends!
   -I am really excited that we will be starting reading groups this Friday! Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to read and grade papers this year. Our parents make ILCS the special school it is!!

Dear Parents and Students,
   What another fantastic week in 4th grade! I have a few things to go over for this upcoming shortened week at ILCS.
   Spanish homework will begin this week. Mrs. Garcia is doing it a little different this year and trying to do all her assignments online. Students can go to the Spanish link to find what they are to do for homework each week. There is a form that parents are to sign and have the students turn in on Friday. She gave this form to the students on Wednesday and they are available on her website. I have some copies in the classroom as well. If you have difficulty doing the work online, she will also allow the students to make flash-cards. Please contact her if you have any questions as I am not always in the room during Spanish and do not always know everything that is happening in Spanish class.
   This week I will start using the Online Math Practice tests. Once a week we will have a test over the facts that are online. Each time a student receives a 100% on a test, they are allowed to move on to the next set of problems. All the problems can be practiced at home online. The link for each individual test can be found in the middle of the homework page. I recommend each student practicing the problems THEY are on at least once a week so they are ready for the test and can score a 100%. We actually took the first test today and will grade on Tuesday. Every student who received a 100% will take test #2 on Friday. If a student does not score a 100%, they can re-take that test during the week when they feel that they are ready. The goal is to eventually make it through all the tests available. Students will be using fractions and multiplying 3 digit by 3 digit numbers at the very end.
   I have received emails back from many of you who are interested in reading with the students on Fridays and who are able to help with grading and classroom activities. I will be emailing and posting everything this upcoming week. I am hoping to start Reading groups this coming Friday. Right now I have 4 parents who can read on Friday mornings. I would love to have one more:) If you would like to read and have not contacted me, please do so as soon as possible.
   Thank you to all of you amazing parents who have already been a tremendous help to me even in such a short amount of time. I already feel very blessed to be working with this group of students and parents! Have an amazing weekend and I will see everyone on Tuesday!

Dear Parents and Students,
   What another fantastic week in 4th grade! This week we will continue with what we started last week. The Spelling tic-tac-toe sheet will be due on Friday and Math assignments will be due daily.
   On Tuesday, I will be sending home a two-week Social Science Map project. It is similar to the Spelling HW in that your student only needs to choose three assignments that form a straight line. The middle box MUST be one of the choices. Everything needed to complete it can be found on the class website under the “Social Studies/Science Resources” tab at the top of the site, or in class. Check the "Homework" tab at the top of the site for all the homework this week.
   You will notice a new online link next to the daily math assignments on the homework page. Right now this is just a resource to practice math facts. In the coming weeks I will use this website as homework. The students will go on the website and solve the problems. Later in the week we will have a quiz on the same questions they do online. I recommend that the students (and parents) get familiar with the site this week before it is assigned as part of the homework. I will go over everything with the students at school this week.
   I am still compiling all the email addresses and will be sending out an email soon (this week) about helping out with grading and reading groups. If you are interested in helping out on Friday mornings from 8:30-9:10 with a reading group, go ahead and send me an email. The more that can read the better!
   Also, a quick reminder that the book order is due this Friday. For every order placed online, the class gets a free book to add to the library!!

Dear Parents and Students,

-What a great first week we had in fourth grade! I am very excited about the year ahead of us and about all the new things we will be doing!
-This week we will be on track with all that we will regularly do in fourth grade. Math homework will continue to be turned in every day and Spelling and Vocabulary homework will be due on Friday. This week we will also learn how to do a "1 pager" in class, which will also be due on Friday. Spanish will begin for us this week as well.
-On Monday we will be having an all school assembly to learn all about the new fundraiser we are doing at ILCS this year. Your student will be coming home with a packet that will tell all about it. Also, on Monday, I will be sending home a book order. This book order will be due on Friday, September 3. There is a link and instructions on the Pages side of the class website to order online. You may order online or send it in to class. Either way is great. There is a new book in the book order called "Spaceheadz." This book was illustrated by my brother-in-law (Shane Prigmore) who also worked on movies such as "Coraline" and "How to Train your Dragon." It is a really entertaining book and there is a chance that we will have him visit ILCS this year to talk about illustrating and character design.

Wow, I can't believe that we will be starting school in one week! I know that class placement emails went out today and I wanted to say a quick hello and welcome to 4th grade. The book Spaceheadz is out!! We read the first few chapters in class the last week of school. Today was the official release day of the new book. You can find it at a local bookstore in the young readers section / series.

Dear Parents and Students,

-Wow! I can't believe it is Summer already! It seems like only yesterday we were all getting to know each other and now everyone is a 5th grader!! I just wanted to take the time to say how much I truly enjoyed this year and was blessed to be a part of each one of the students lives.
-I want to say thank you to all the parents for your amazing support throughtout the year! We were never in need of help the entire year, you all made the school year what it was. A special thank you to Mrs. Anitnucci for her incredible work as our room mom this year. She made ALL the class celebrations perfect and memorable! Also, a special thank you to my reading group moms and grandmas! Again, the students gained so much from having you come in every week and read with them. We had so many parents come in this year and make an impact in what we were doing- THANK YOU
-I also want to say thank you to all my amazing 4th graders (oops 5th graders now!). Each one of you came to school with such enthusiasm for learning and always strived for your best. I appreciated the character of each one of you and ALL of you really showed what being a LEADER is all about. I can't wait to see all of you as the new LEADERS at ILCS as 5th graders next year!
-I forgot to pass out a little paper inviting all students to go to Oak Glen Old School House Park on 11911 S Oak glen Rd every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. This is not a school sponsored event. Just kids and parents getting together for some summer fun.

Reminder: Tomorrow is a dress-up day for 4th Grade! Students may wear something sporty, fancy, or try and look like somebody famous! Remember that we have PE tomorrow.
-Also, tomorrow will be bring in a board game day. Students may bring in their favorite board game or card game to play in class tomorrow as part of the reward!
-Thursday is a school dress-up day! The theme is tacky / backwards day. Also, we will be having our end-of -the-year celebrations at 11:30 on Thursday.

4th Grade Dress-up day / No Water Day

Hurray!! The 4th graders earned a dress-up day this Wednesday by improving as a class by 52 points on the NWEA tests we took a few weeks ago!! The theme is Sports / Fancy / Famous :) Remember that we do have PE on Wednesday so make sure to bring shoes that you can play in if you choose the Fancy theme.

-Also, there is NOT going to be a "water day" this Friday. Instead, we will be playing dodge-ball with Mr. Osborn's 5th grade class on the field.

Dear Parents and Students,
Wow!! I can't believe it's the last week of school for 4th grade. It seems like only yesterday I was learning the names of all the students in the class. It sure has been a lot of fun!! There are only a few things to go over for this week.
-We will be turning in all our books this week. If there is any text book or reading book from the class library at home, please bring back to school this week to turn in.
-Things will be kind of normal Monday -Wednesday, there will still be Reading and Math on these days. Thursday we will be cleaning up and having a special end-of-the-year celebration at the end of the day. Mrs. Antinucci sent home a flyer about this event last week. If you have any questions, please contact her. On Friday there will be an assembly and talent show in the morning. I will update when I have the official times of each.
-There is no homework this week for any subject.
- Make sure the students have a back-pack or bag at school on Thursday to take home all of their belongings
-Yearbooks will be handed out this week. I will give the students time to sign yearbooks on Friday morning before the assembly.

Dear Parents and Students,
I hope that everyone enjoyed their three day weekend! There are just a few things of importance for these next few weeks of school.
-The Mission projects were amazing!! Great work to all the students and to the parents who helped out with some of the construction of the marvelous projects!
-This week there will only be Math homework. We will be finishing up the book with lessons 112, 113, and 114, and then taking the End of the Year Test on Friday. These assignments are due the day after we do them as usual. There will be no Spelling or Vocabulary Homework this week but we will be having our last Spelling and Vocabulary Test this Friday. Students will get the spelling and vocabulary words in class tomorrow.
- I will be looking at the NWEA test scores this week to see how we did as a class. From what the students have told me, I think that I may be dressing up next week:) The class had to increase their score by 52 points for each test (2 points per student). I can't wait to see those scores!!
-This Friday is the last Filler up Friday and Doughnut day!
